WHEN DID YOU FIRST START DRAWING BBW'S AND WHY?

I started drawing BBW's in high school after seeing the published
pin-up art of Ruben Esq. Ruben Esq's work was unlike anything else I
had been exposed to, and it was the first time I saw a modern artist
pay tribute to the big girl. I was very into comic book art and
graffiti. When graffiti artists pulled out there black books
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graffiti_terminology], I got instant
distinction from the masses because no-one else drew full figured
characters.

WHAT DO YOU CALL YOUR TYPE OF ART STYLE?

I have heard many people refer to my art as cartoons. I like that
reference. It's hard to put a name on my style because it is still
evolving. The body of work that exists is very urban reflective,
colorful and (mildly) seductive. The body of work that is to come will
try to preserve those existing foundations while allowing me to
experiment with different ways to define the many identities of the
community my artwork serves.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW WEBSITE?

The relaunch of www.scarletbbwart.com brings a smile to my face. For
years I had the featured galleries of my work, and the home page where
I shared some of my views. Every time I updated the home page the
previous entry was just erased. After a series of conversations with
Belle-noir.com Editor Aja B. Stubbs, I reluctantly changed the site to
a blog format. I am thrilled because I am building a content that is
constantly available that deals with my art, BBW art, and issues that
concern the plus size community. In this rendition of the site, I am
including interviews of strong professional Big Beautiful Women. Great
things are in store for my visitors.

I have been working with Aja for close to 5 years since the birth of
www.belle-noir.com. When she contacted me about doing cover
illustrations for her monthly online publication, not only was it a
great source of exposure, I loved what her project stood for. It was a
beacon to be seen by all. Belle-Noir is wonderful source for bringing
the full-figured woman into the mainstream in a positive and dynamic
way. I'm grateful that my art contributed to that movement.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT TO DRAW ADMIRERS AND WILL YOU
CONTINUE TO DO MORE?

Lately, requests have been coming to show the presence of BBW admirers
in my art. I think it only makes sense on the grand scheme of things
to occasionally pay homage to the appreciator as well as the
appreciated. Once again Aja was the one accredited with JNESS
venturing into this direction with the piece featured with this
article.

I have attended Belle-Noir.com's Curves N Cocktails event months ago.
It was one of my first outings. It was fabulous, I will be attending

Yes it is a hobby and yes I have showcased and sold some of my SSBBW art at Art Beyond Boundaries. 1410 Main St. Cincinnati, Ohio 45207 (513) 421-8726. People commission me to do paintings for them. Prices vary from watercolor, acrylic to oil. $150 - $600. My long term goals are take life each day as it comes.

I attend BBW parties bi weekly at the Ramada Inn, 6147 West State Route 122, Franklin, Ohio (513) 424-1201 and I faithfully attend the BBW Networking event every summer in Las Vegas the largest BBW event in the world. I also attend Lindas Big Connection in Chicago for their BBW BOO Bash party in October and their Mardi Gras BBW party in March.

Yes I went through a gradual process. I started out with a skinny woman and after we got married she naturally begin to put on weight in which I loved but she was not happy with the weight gain so she lost it but I loved it. After our divorce I started dating bigger and bigger women until I found my Queen who was close to 600lbs. But she was engaged to another. I was broken-hearted.

I am definitely a BBW admirer! I love everything about plus size women and
every body variation. To me, they are the most attractive women in the
world. I have always dated plus size women off and on. There was a period of
time starting mid-way through high school lasting through my late 20's where
I became self conscience of dating plus size women due to having friends
that would criticize me. It wasn't until some 8 or 9 years ago when I
discovered an underground Bay Area BBW scene and attended a club called "The
Spot" in Oakland and Big Boogie Nights that I really began to accept myself
and realized that plus size women are my natural born preference. I am now
happily involved with the love of my life who is also my business partner
and a bbw.

My girlfriend Stacey and I owned a clothing/accessory product development
business where we worked with small companies developing their clothing
lines. After a few years of helping other businesses we decided to develop
our own product line that would address our own personal interests. Stacey
being a plus size woman always had problems finding clothes that fit and it
wasn't until I began shopping for her that I realized that the selection for
plus size women was very limited at best. We were fortunate enough to team
up with a designer from FIDM named Valerie who is also plus size and a very
creative designer.
Our clothing line due to launch in 2010 is called Curvy Cupcake.
We've been working over the last year and a half to create a brand new size
chart based on real plus size women's bodies. Because we know that plus size
bodies come in a variety of shapes, we've done the research and have created
ways to cater to the variety of shapes that all curvy women come in, thereby
eliminating the ill fitting look that we see today in the plus size retail
market. This combined with premium fabrics, attention to detail, fashion
forward colors, trims, designs, finishes, etc. is what makes us unique in
the plus size market.
Our goal for Curvy Cupcake is to become both a premium plus size brand, but
also a force for plus size empowerment. We've created a promotional line of
new plus size empowerment sayings like; "Curvy is the new skinny", "I'm a
fan of curvy women", "If you won't embrace your curves, can I?", and more
that you can find on our website on the promotional items page.
